Brian Jamison began roleplaying when he was 12 years old with Dungeons & Dragons first edition. As a teenager he operated a computer BBS that was dedicated to roleplaying where he gamemastered (and played!) many games.
During that time Brian also contributed to and typeset one of the first large scale LARP rulesets, designed boardgames and role playing game systems, and wrote and published small video games.
In his twenties Mr. Jamison designed and produced hundreds of promotional web games and websites for the likes of Sony PlayStation, Namco and Nissan Motors. In his late twenties he designed and produced Underlight, one of the first massively multiplayer online roleplaying games. Mr. Jamison went on to do contract game design before taking a break to found numerous other companies from biodiesel production to open source software development. He returned to the game industry in 2014.
In 2004 Brian began work on Gamemastering, writing in his spare time from home in Portland. Gamemastering was published in 2010. Mr. Jamison is currently working on a revised and updated second edition of the book, from a different home, but still in his spare time, and still in Portland.
Brian Jamison lives in Portland, Oregon where he can still be found playing a weekly RPG with his close friends. In real life he is the creative director at the indie video game studio Jumpdrive Studios.
