Brian Jamison began roleplaying when he was 12 years old with Dungeons & Dragons first edition. As a teenager he operated a dialup BBS for many years that was dedicated to roleplaying where he gamemastered and played many games. During that time he contributed to and typeset one of the first large scale LARP rulesets, designed boardgames and role playing game systems, and wrote and published small video games. In his twenties he designed and produced hundreds of promotional web games and websites for the likes of Sony PlayStation, Namco and Nissan Motors. In his late twenties he designed and produced of one of the first massively multiplayer online roleplaying games, Underlight and went on to do contract game design before taking a break to found numerous other companies from biodiesel production to open source software development. He returned to the game industry in 2014.
In 2004 he began work on Gamemastering which was published in 2009. He is currently working on a revised and updated second edition of the book.
Brian Jamison lives in Portland, Oregon where he can still be found playing a weekly RPG with his close friends. In real life he is the creative director at the indie video game studio Jumpdrive Studios.
